The Red Hat Quality Engineering (QE) team is looking for a dynamic Associate Software Engineer to join us in Bangalore, India. In this role, you will have an opportunity to jumpstart your career by building expertise in all aspects of quality of the Red Hat’s developer-focused Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) offering. You’ll gain deep understanding of a variety of technologies, including cloud. You’ll ensure that our solutions fulfill the highest possible enterprise quality, performance, usability, and supportability criteria. You’ll have the opportunity to work with some of the brightest engineers in the open source industry while serving as an internal advocate for our customers, including not only developers, but also DevOps, system administrators, and IT managers. As an Associate Software Engineer, you will create and deliver test strategies, develop automated tests, and contribute to new feature development. You’ll need to have the ability to think creatively and adapt to rapid change, as well as the willingness to learn new skills.
Primary job responsibilities
Work with highly enthusiastic global team of engineers and be responsible for the delivery of Red Hat’s offerings
Own the quality of our offerings, create and carry out test strategies, and participate in product planning processes
Develop new automated and manual tests; develop frameworks to ease test development and automation to speed up implementation
Contribute to new feature development and unit testing
Improve and optimize tools and techniques to enhance quality
Maintain infrastructure to support software development
Analyze the source code of our offerings to suggest improvements
Serve as an internal advocate for our customers
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related engineering field, or relevant professional experience
Coding abilities using one or more technologies like Python, Golang, Java, C, C++, or other
Knowledge of Jenkins or other continuous integration (CI) or continuous delivery (CD) system
Knowledge of Shell scripting
Solid written and verbal communication skills in English
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
Ability to build working relations in the team
Contributions to open source communities are a plus
