Job summary

The Red Hat Systems Operations team is looking for a Senior Systems Administrator to join us in Beijing, China. In this role, you will work with cross-functional teams to develop and deliver infrastructure and services, including Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), that lead to the creation of Red Hat's innovative open source software. You'll assist product development teams in becoming more efficient at each available opportunity. As a Senior System Administrator, you will work closely with engineering teams to help ensure Red Hat’s solutions reach market in a timely fashion and at an outstanding level of quality.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Design, build, and revise continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) systems

  • Manage, architect, and implement disaster-recovery (DR) and business-continuity plans (BCP) and environments

  • Manage and architect backup and restore for diverse environments; architect backup and recovery solutions for databases

  • Assess and take advantage of opportunities to use Red Hat’s emerging solutions in our engineering pipeline

  • Work in a globally-distributed team

  • Integrate beta-maturity offerings in deployments

  • Manage projects, requirements gathering, and translation to work tasks

  • Manage scale-out virtualization platforms based on Red Hat’s solutions

  • Work with upstream communities engaged with Red Hat in the creation of our solutions

  • Collaborate with internal teams, providing supporting services to our customers as a reference model

  • Run multi-site failover events and drills

Required skills

  • Solid written communication skills in English

  • Ability to graphically represent concepts and architectures in documentation

  • Experience with Red Hat OpenStack Platform or Red Hat Virtualization

  • Experience with software-defined networking (SDN) or storage

  • Knowledge of Git and other version control expertise

  • Experience working in agile software development teams

  • Proven ability to take on advanced work in particular areas of related skills

  • Advanced problem-solving and critical-thinking skills

  • Experience with video-conferencing collaboration

  • Familiarity with file-based NAS and NFS protocols

  • Experience with automation of backup verification

  • Knowledge of multi-site data replication using vendor tools, as well as open source tools such as rsync

  • Experience developing a backup solution with defined SLAs

  • Experience with Storage Area Network (SAN) block based protocols, Fiber Channel, and iSCSI

  • Experience managing Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO)

Experience with the following arrays is considered a plus:

  • EMC VNX2

  • NetApp FAS/AFF Clustered ONTAP

  • Infinidat Infinibox

  • IBM V7000

  • Gluster

  • Ceph

  • brocade fiber channel switch

  • Bareos or Bacula
