The Red Hat OpenShift team is looking for an experienced developer to join us as a Principal Software Engineer to enhance our Operator Lifecycle Manager (OLM) team. In this role, you will be a key member of our OpenShift engineering team and focus on developing a solution to manage advanced stateful applications and their life cycles running on Kubernetes. You’ll help us provide a service that will change how development is done, using the power of Red Hat’s technologies and services hosted in the cloud. As a Principal Software Engineer, you'll need to be able to work in a fast-paced and sometimes chaotic environment with the goal of making our end users and customers more effective with every release.
Primary job responsibilities
Work closely with engineers on the Red Hat OpenShift and Operator Framework team to provide seamless developer experience
Interact with multiple teams within Red Hat and with the open source community
Use your excellent communication skills to communicate with other Red Hat OpenShift engineers, product managers, and management across the globe
Serve as an engineering contributor to OLM-related projects upstream and Red Hat OpenShift to deliver the functionality needed
Provide solutions and pipelines to enable seamless integration of Kubernetes operators onto running clusters
Work in a fast-paced environment
Communicate with end users through IRC, Slack, forums, and email
5-8 years of experience with enterprise software development
Master’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to directly interact with customers
Ability to quickly learn and work on a day-to-day basis with technologies like Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Fedora, cgroups and SELinux, and everything containers and Kubernetes-related
Experience contributing to or participating in open source projects like Kubernetes
Experience with operators, controllers, and Kubernetes, or equivalent distributed systems experience
Familiarity with Red Hat OpenShift is a plus
