Job summary

The Red Hat Virtualization team is looking for a Virtualization Intern to join our Red Hat Virtualization Management and oVirt team for the summer of 2019 in Boston, MA. In this role, you will help design and implement several usability enhancements for the user interfaces (UI) of Red Hat Virtualization. You'll work as part of a geographically distributed team and maintain close communication with other team members and upstream communities. As a Virtualization Intern working on Red Hat Virtualization, you'll need to have passion for virtualization, web development technologies, Linux, and free software.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Work with the UI Infrastructure team to help them develop and maintain our UI components

  • Attend daily stand-ups and other regular meetings typical of an agile software development process

  • Submit patches for bug fixes to the community and review patches from other community members

  • Work with the Quality Engineering (QE) team to ensure that projects are tested correctly

  • Publicize the work of the team via blogs, web postings, or conference talks

Required skills

  • Interested in user experience (UX) and in creating great looking UIs

  • Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; experience with React.js is a plus

  • Experience with Linux, preferably Fedora, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), or CentOS

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience with open source development and with virtualization and cluster technologies is a plus
