Job summary

The Security Technologies team is looking for a Software Engineer to join us in Brno, Czech Republic. In this role, you will develop solutions for centralized aggregation, correlation, and visualization of logs from the deployments of Red Hat’s offerings. Your main focus will be on design, implementation, and testing of functionality in our logging solutions components. This is a great opportunity for an engineer interested in learning and extending technologies like Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, and Elasticsearch.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Focus on design and implementation related to log aggregation and analysis functionality

  • Work with ViaQ and FreeIPA communities to deliver the end-to-end logging and session recording solution that would allow correlation of the logs and terminal sessions output across different systems in complex multi-node environments like Red Hat OpenStack and Red Hat OpenShift

  • Work with other projects and Red Hat product teams that might require additional help, integration efforts, or features

  • Communicate with developers and teams across multiple time zones

  • Work across project and technology boundaries to create integrated solutions based on open source projects

  • Apply your understanding of and experience with good development practices like test-driven development, continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD), peer reviews, and defensive programming

Required skills

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related field

  • Experience with Go, C, or Python programming; academic experience is a plus, but applicants should be skilled in at least one of these languages

  • Knowledge of the Linux operating system and its development tools; any distribution is acceptable

  • Ability to design and experience designing complex multi-component multi-system solutions

  • Ability to work as part of a team and establish good trusting relationships with new people

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Desire to learn and solve challenging problems

The following are considered a plus:

  • Familiarity with Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift

  • Familiarity with the ELK, EFK, or ERK stacks or similar logging technologies

  • Experience with CI and CD and related frameworks

  • Familiarity with agile and scrum practices
