Job summary

The Red Hat Platform Security team is looking for an enthusiastic Software Engineer to join us in Brno, Czech Republic. Our team develops and maintains key security technologies of the enterprise operating system (EOS). In this role, you’ll help us ensure that Red Hat’s solutions meet industry standard security requirements. You’ll need to be passionate about operating system security domain and have Linux and C language knowledge. You’ll have an opportunity to work in various domains like crypto implementation, security software implementation, product security certifications, security compliance and logging, and auditing software development. This is an ideal position for engineers interested in contributing to open source projects and developing security software to be used in enterprise infrastructures.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Lead upstream testing and development efforts

  • Respond to requests for enhancements from our customers by designing and developing new features

  • Productize requested functionality in Red Hat’s solutions

  • Collaborate with other Red Hat engineers, product managers, and with the Documentation and Marketing teams

  • Participate in the development cycle from start to finish; from working on requirements gathering, scoping, and source code development to testing and verification

  • Keep up to date with the latest technologies and development methodologies

Required skills

  • Programming experience with C language, both professional and academic experience will be considered

  • Knowledge of any distribution of Linux operating system and its development tools

  • Solid personal accountability and ability to own team projects

  • Ability to work in a team in a rapidly changing environment

  • Good communication skills in English

The following are considered a plus:

  • Familiarity with cryptographic algorithms and protocols like TLS or SSL, IPSec or IKE, or SSH protocols

  • Familiarity with Cryptsetup and LUKS

  • Demonstrated ability to join open source projects and contribute to them
