Job summary

Help resolve issues for enterprise customers by providing high-level technical support and sustaining engineering services to maximize uptime and reduce IT costs. The Red Hat Support Engineering team is looking for a Technical Support Engineer to join us in Brno, Czech Republic. In this role, you will work as part of a team dedicated to resolving issues quickly and efficiently. You’ll collaborate with the top developers and architects of our customers and assist our technical support engineers with complex and challenging issues. You'll also partner closely with development engineering teams and work alongside some of the brightest developers in the open source community, especially in virtualization area. Primary job responsibilities

  • Take ownership and resolve complex customer problems within Red Hat Virtualization

  • Interact with customers on a daily basis via case and ticket management, remote sessions, and phone calls to solve customer issues

  • Use available tools to investigate and troubleshoot technical issues

  • Record customer interactions to include investigation, troubleshooting, and the resolution of issues

  • Work closely with Red Hat's software maintenance engineers, technical account managers, and development engineering team

  • Assist in the development of comprehensive and reusable self-service solutions for future incidents

Required skills

  • 3+ years of experience as a support engineer or other directly related experience in an enterprise environment with corresponding knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)

  • Experience with Linux operating system installation, configuration, upgrades, and maintenance

  • Knowledge of virtualization concepts and use cases

  • Solid understanding of networking configuration including IP configuration, interface bonding, routing, firewalls, etc.

  • General understanding of base packages included in RHEL distribution

  • Understanding of DHCP, DNS, PXE, kickstart, and virtualization

  • General understanding of the Red Hat subscription model

  • Solid troubleshooting skills

  • Committed to providing the best experience possible for Red Hat’s customers

  • Upstream involvement in open source projects with patches submitted for upstream inclusion is a plus
