Job summary

The Red Hat Finance team is looking for Accounting Analyst to join our Accounting team in Cork, Ireland. In this role, you will interact with all the teams within the finance function to improve processes, support projects, and build risk and controls awareness. You’ll report directly to the General Ledger Accounting Manager.You’ll need to have a deep passion for and experience with continuously improving processes and enabling automation to meet the needs of a growing business while optimizing productivity. As an Accounting Analyst, you’ll also need to have a demonstrated ability to engage with key stakeholders and to guide continuous development of our transactional teams.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with relevant business policies and controls

  • Engage with internal and external auditors of the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Act

  • Educate, train, and support associates to build risk and controls awareness within the organization

  • Diagnose, streamline, design, develop, and maintain documentation for key performance indicators (KPIs), metrics, reports, scorecards, and dashboards; appropriately automate delivery

  • Identify and understand the interaction between data and operational processes to provide insights for improvements and solutions to complex problems

  • Define and prioritize improvements, ensuring alignment with process vision, strategy, and goals

  • Coordinate and support key projects

  • Facilitate requirements gathering, global information technology (IT) business analytics, and process mapping workshops

  • Participate in end-to-end implementation planning, including project, change, and issue management, and communication

  • Work with senior Ireland leadership and other teams of stakeholders (Internal Audit, Business Standards, and Compliance teams); build and operate appropriate risk and control frameworks for the Ireland business

  • Educate, train, and support associates to build risk and controls awareness within the organization

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field like accounting, finance, IT, or management information systems

  • Experience working in a multinational environment

  • Good reporting capability; proven record of providing value add reporting

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively document, write, present, and engage associates from different management levels, individual contributors, and stakeholders across all geographical areas

  • Passion for quick learning and applying of new skills and technologies

  • Understanding of U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and SOX regulations

  • Highly motivated with an ability to demonstrate creative problem-solving and analytical skills within a fast-paced and challenging environment

  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to work with diverse groups at all levels of the business

  • Proven ability to provide recommendations using data analysis and data mining

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Association of Chartered Accountants (ACA), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), or Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) qualifications are a plus

  • Six Sigma certification and experience managing process improvements are a plus
