Job summary

The Red Hat Finance team is looking for a Revenue Accountant to join us in Cork, Ireland. In this role, you will be a key member of the Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) Revenue team. You’ll be responsible for varied accounting and compliance activities, as well as technical accounting and revenue operations responsibilities. As a Revenue Accountant, you will be involved with phase 2 of the new revenue management tool implementation.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Work with the EMEA Revenue team to ensure that transactions are appropriately considered and accounted for under the requirements of U.S. GAAP

  • Review sales contracts to determine appropriate application of the revenue recognition principle

  • Review business terms language in non-standard or complex agreements to comply with corporate policies

  • Prepare account reconciliations and journal entries

  • Assist with the reporting and analysis of revenue results

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and processes

  • Perform ad hoc tasks as necessary

Required skills

  • Motivated with creative problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Fully or part-qualified with Association of Chartered Accountants (ACA), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), or Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) certification

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Solid Microsoft Excel skills

  • Experience working on complex account and system reconciliations

  • Technical accounting experience working with revenue contracts under SOP 97-2 and ASC 605; working knowledge of ASC 606 is a plus

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
