Red Hat Senior Quality Engineer in Durham, North Carolina

The Red Hat Ansible Quality Engineering (QE) team is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer with a passion for open source software to join us in Durham, NC. In this role, you will work on a new project as part of a new initiative within the Management QE group, which reaches across Red Hat's diverse solution portfolio. You’ll need to have outstanding technical and communication skills and experience with Ansible or similar automation orchestration technology. As a Senior Quality Engineer, you’ll also need to be comfortable working in an agile, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment.
Primary job responsibilities
Help define and implement automated test strategies, methodologies, processes, and procedures
Investigate and recommend test infrastructure tools to support the quality engineering methodology, process, and procedures
Work with other QE team members to architect and implement automated functional testing across the Ansible solution set, including Tower and Galaxy
Analyze source code and work with development counterparts to propose appropriate test strategies for product subsystems
Develop automated tests in accordance with department policies and process
Create product wide test plans and strategies
Oversee the work of other quality engineers
Participate in and contribute to weekly team meetings
Interact with external partners and customers regarding testing strategies and results
Schedule and guide reviews with management and senior technical leadership
Provide an accurate and timely status of testing efforts and quality metrics to the broader project team
Plan and implement testing automation jobs and pipelines using a continuous integration (CI)
5+ years of software testing experience
Experience with testing web-based applications, preferably through a REST API
Experience with automation and orchestration frameworks like Ansible
Experience with solutions like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, or OpenShift by Red Hat
Familiarity with various deployment models including cloud, virtualization, and containers
Experience with GitHub, GitLab, or other collaborative code forges
Passion for open source technologies; previous experience with open source communities and development is a plus
Advanced problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Understanding of quality assurance and engineering concepts
Understanding of the Python programming language
Practical experience using the Linux operating system including Bash scripting
Fluent written and verbal English language skills
Knowledge of CI systems like Jenkins or Travis
