The Red Hat Sales team is looking for a Senior Manager to join us in New Delhi, India. In this role, you will expand the relationship between Red Hat and government agencies and bring in new business, market, and sales opportunities that support our growth strategy. You'll guide a team of sales professionals to develop new, strategic, and long-lasting partnerships with specific central and state government agencies, and establish Red Hat as the open source supplier of choice for government customers. As a Senior Manager, you will understand, identify, contact, and establish relationships with key decision-makers in each assigned government agency. From there, you'll be responsible for identifying potential short and long-term business opportunities, assessing customer needs, developing solutions, and managing the relationship through the procurement process, as the channel guides the opportunity to contract award and delivery.
Primary job responsibilities
Manage the identification and qualification process for potential opportunities
Work across the business development life cycle, including identifying, researching, and analyzing customer needs, proposing solutions, and initiating the procurement process
Participate in relevant trade shows, industry days, and seminars to stay up to date on customer strategies, goals, and objectives
Provide executive relationship management and business supervision with ongoing and ad hoc reports on the assigned agency
Be accountable for discrete annual goals and objectives for funnel and pipeline, bookings, backlog, and revenue
Maintain a forward-looking, customer-centric, entrepreneurial, proactive, and flexible mindset while anticipating market needs
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in engineering or computer science; MBA is a plus
15+ years of business development, marketing, or sales experience, including selling offerings, services, and solutions to government agencies
8+ years of people management experience
Solid understanding of and experience with government procurement, contracting procedures, and funding mechanisms; advanced knowledge of contracts
Solid, active network of key relationships within government agencies; record of success in government markets
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively communicate enterprise-level business value propositions
Excellent interpersonal skills to work with other senior executives, customers, and external parties; good networking skills
Comfortable as a spokesperson in a visible industry leadership role
Collaborative team member with the flexibility to work in a creative, entrepreneurial, and matrixed environment
Excellent negotiation, organizational, analytical, and research skills; ability to apply these skills with a business process-oriented mindset
Ability to maintain an “outside-in” perspective using customer, consumer, market, and industry insights
Ability to anticipate and translate customer needs into successful business offerings
Ability to take a proactive approach to opportunities in order to remain ahead of the competition
