Job summary

The Red Hat OpenShift Service Delivery team is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to join us in New York City, NY. In this role, you will join a team that hosts, develops, and supports the Red Hat OpenShift project on the Microsoft Azure cloud. You’ll be a key member of our OpenShift Service Delivery team and focus on standardization of containers, working around the Red Hat Container Catalog, Kubernetes, and Red Hat OpenShift environments. You’ll need to be able to work in a fast-paced and fast-changing environment with the goal of making our offerings more effective with every release. As a Site Reliability Engineer, you won’t just be mitigating vulnerabilities in the Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) system, you will also be expected to partially serve as a developer and meaningfully contribute to the code.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Work closely with engineers on Red Hat OpenShift and become a contributor to both the upstream and downstream OpenShift technology projects to ensure functionality of the offerings

  • Interact with multiple teams within Red Hat and with the open source community

  • Partner with support teams to troubleshoot deep technical issues

  • Look for opportunities that would help us improve how we deliver a hosted offering to our customers

  • Communicate with end users through Internet Relay Chat (IRC), forums, and e-mail

Required skills

  • Experience with writing code for business-to-business (B2B) organizations

  • Solid experience in either Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes, or Red Hat Openshift; ability to learn the rest of the technologies quickly

  • Experience with implementing and improving continuous integration (CI) and delivery (CD) pipelines

  • Ability to ensure that a hosted service is secure and stable and to establish processes around it

  • Previous experience working as a Principal Site Reliability Engineer, or in a cloud based company in a similar position

  • Previous experience with Prometheus, an open source monitoring system, is a plus

  • Experience with the Linux system is a plus
