Job summary

Get developers excited about working with technology and help them create solutions. The Red Hat OpenShift team is looking for a Developer Evangelist to join us in Raleigh, NC or Boston, MA. In this role, you will become a conference speaker, as you will travel and meet developers from all backgrounds and create fun sample applications that demonstrate how to use cloud technology. You’ll work as part of the Red Hat OpenShift team, which has the feel of a startup because of the excitement surrounding this rapidly evolving solution, but through Red Hat, it also has the support and resources of an established open source software company. As an OpenShift Developer Evangelist, you’ll need to be a persuasive communicator across multiple platforms, including public speaking, blogging, writing, and social media. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic person who may not consider themselves an expert in any one technology, but has the passion for learning new things.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Attend and speak at user groups, meetups, and conferences on topics that relate to containers and orchestration via Kubernetes

  • Serve as a goodwill ambassador to developer, operations, and partner communities

  • Develop content, including how-to articles, videos, and blog posts that demonstrates how to use the latest technology trends like microservices, containers, orchestration, etc.

  • Enable Red Hat’s associates and the community to advocate on team's behalf

  • Assist users with technical issues via online chat (IRC) and forums

Required skills

  • Excitement and willingness to learn new languages and frameworks

  • Basic Linux command line skills

  • Comfortable working in Windows, macOS, and Linux operating system environments

  • Ability to carry out initiatives, take responsibility, meet deadlines, frame challenging problems, and maintain expert knowledge in multiple domains

  • Familiarity with Java or Node.js

  • Ability to pick up new technologies quickly; passion for staying up to date on industry trends in the developer space

  • Passion for open source software

  • Willingness to travel
