The Red Hat Global Mobility team is looking for an Immigration Program Specialist to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will help create, develop, improve, and deliver processes for U.S. and Canada immigration matters. Your success will be measured by delivering a great associate experience through outstanding customer service and by adding value to our global immigration processes by analyzing criteria, making decisions, and advising key Red Hat stakeholders.
Primary job responsibilities
Be responsible for all North America (NA) immigration processes, serving as point of contact for NA immigration matters
Manage the immigration (visa and work permit) services provided to authorized associates to ensure that assignees have the required visa, paperwork, and support
Work closely with immigration counsel to track, prepare, and maintain appropriate immigration cases, e.g., F-1, H-1B, PERM, green card cases, etc.
Track critical immigration deadlines and initiate follow-up actions in a timely manner
Provide ongoing support to associates in the U.S. and Canada who need immigration process support
Develop and improve policies and procedures for the immigration and mobility process to meet business needs
Handle telephone calls and respond to inquiries from associates and external vendors
Provide immigration-related expertise, consultation, and cost estimates to key stakeholders
Ensure that the delivery of services provided by external vendors is efficient and transparent to ensure complete satisfaction of new hires and transferees
Track and maintain foreign student tax exemption list for payroll reporting
Analyze current state of system, processes, and U.S. immigration policy and regulations for contingency planning options for known programs and in response to new policy memos
Educate managers and business partners on NA immigration strategies and guidelines, as well as related associate concerns
Provide immigration support to global mobility consultants for international transfers and assignments
3-5 years of employment-based immigration paralegal experience, including preparation of H-1B visas, L-1 visas, and PERM applications
Corporate paralegal experience in a law firm, corporate group, or an in-house environment
Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills
Organized with an ability to handle multiple priorities and track critical deadlines
Ability to research, assess facts, and determine their impact on the business
Experience building relationships cross-functionally and guiding business-oriented solutions
Communication experience and knowledge of how to create presentations
Experience exercising judgment and discretion while working with all levels of company leadership
Experience working directly on projects
