Job summary

The Red Hat Information Technology (IT) team is looking for an Information Security Analyst to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will work as part of the Global Information Risk and Security team. You’ll get a unique opportunity to draw on and develop your corporate information security and operations knowledge to meet the challenges of securing Red Hat the open source way. You'll maintain current knowledge of the information security industry to help you evaluate, recommend, and implement security controls to prevent and detect information security incidents. As an Information Security Analyst, you’ll need to have excellent communication skills, as you will consult with a range of customers and stakeholders. You’ll advise them on projects, manage incidents, and collaborate to deliver corporate information security enhancements, thereby contributing to Red Hat's overall success.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Work to understand and improve Red Hat's information security posture

  • Support information security initiatives from creation to delivery

  • Implement automated detection and alerting for potential security incidents

  • Perform information security incident handling and respond to customer inquiries

  • Provide security consulting, awareness, and outreach to all areas of the business

  • Stay current with information security developments like vulnerabilities, threat activity, attacker techniques, and countermeasures and apply these in an enterprise context

Required skills

  • 3+ years of experience in a technical or operational role with an information security focus

  • Proven history of working in a position of trust

  • Ability to effectively engage with a global team using various communication methods

  • Excellent customer service and written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey information effectively and professionally to a wide variety of audiences

  • Methodical, data-driven approach to security analysis; ability to think laterally and creatively in order to implement pragmatic security improvements and detect and respond to incidents

  • Ability to work with open source technologies to solve complex and challenging problems

  • Solid experience in administration or operation of Linux systems and familiarity with security features, maintenance, and hardening of these platforms

  • Comfortable using a scripting language like Ruby, Python, Perl, or shell to automate solutions

  • Information security tertiary education or industry certifications like Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) are a big plus
