Job summary

The Red Hat People (HR) team is looking for a Project and Change Management Intern to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will work within the Red Hat HR Project and Change Management Practice, a team focused on delivering strategic projects successfully by project managing their direction and providing change management advisory services and support to address behavioral change impacts of the project. You’ll design and build needed project deliverables and contribute to the development of the Project and Change Management team’s approach, processes, and templates. As a Project and Change Management Intern, you’ll need to be a strategic and analytical thinker with an interest in helping to manage complex projects to successful delivery. You’ll assess a project and business scenario for risk and potential behavioral change impacts and identify involved stakeholders. You’ll need to have people relationship skills and be comfortable delivering their work through a team setting. You’ll also need to be familiar with concepts in business management, project management, and organizational change management.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Design and build needed project deliverables like roadmaps, project plans, change impact assessments, and change and communications plans

  • Support cross-functional meetings, capture notes, update project documents, and support general project reporting

  • Plan, prioritize, schedule, manage, and ensure delivery of critical tasks, specific events, and project activities

  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation and timely updates to stakeholders, meeting quality standards and expectations

  • Use project management and workflow tools to monitor and update schedules as needed

  • Contribute to the development of business cases, project planning, change management planning, and governance preparation

  • Maintain discretion and confidentiality in all areas pertaining to data and proprietary information, whether internal to Red Hat or customer-specific

  • Use an open and collaborative approach to working with strategic partners in HR and across the business

Required skills

  • 1-3+ years of relevant project management experience

  • Bachelor's degree; currently pursuing master's degree or higher

  • Solid planning and organizational skills; attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks at once

  • Ability to analyze, prioritize requests, and provide meaningful observations

  • Ability to work on your own, without direct oversight of your work

  • Experience in project management, change management, project support, or business analysis

  • Experience working with individuals in a variety of business, creative, and technical roles

  • Experience working in a team setting

  • Solid written and verbal communications skills

  • Energized by a variety of working relationships

  • Open to change and flexible in style

  • Global mindset, professional approach, and customer focus
