Job summary

The Red Hat Financial Services Industry (FSI) Consulting team is looking for a Senior Program Manager to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you’ll help guide the adoption of Red Hat's solutions in our key financial services accounts and service provider partners. You’ll actively manage highly strategic programs to successful completion from initiation through delivery and closure specializing on the financial services industry. This requires excellent coordination of cross-functional teams (through meetings and progress measurement activity) which bring distinct, specific projects to completion both on time and within budget. You should be an experienced project management professional with a full understanding of industry standard project management practices (and Red Hat policies and procedures) with the ability to interact with Red Hat and customer senior management. You will work on problems with diverse scope, evaluate identifiable factors, and demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. You'll also need excellent communication skills and the ability to support multiple teams and geographies for Red Hat's fast-growing Services team. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Become a trusted adviser who develops a communication strategy to support ongoing and regular touch points with onsite client and across multiple project teams

  • Coordinate cross-functional team meetings (support, finance, sales, resource management, etc.) with a best practice approach

  • Serve as a point of communication between the Client, Consulting teams, and Project Accounting team

  • Ability to manage multiple, highly-complex projects in parallel, while providing frequent financial updates

  • Initiate and manage complex projects effectively, including financial impact, risks and business opportunities

  • Coordinate with the Resource Management Office (RMO) to manage staffing requirements and support project closeout​ resource​ assessment​ ​ activities

  • Implement scaled Agile or Scrum processes and lead product managers, product owners, and release management team to facilitate release planning preparedness to ensure actionable prioritized program backlog​

  • Collaborate with product owner(s) to understand and create product backlog and release plan

  • Assist with training the project team on application of appropriate procedures; develop an effective change management process appropriate to the project delivery methodology by closely monitoring scope, RFCs, or working with Scrum teams to communicate impact of change requests, prior to implementation

  • Coach members to accomplish project goals and meet established schedules​

  • Monitor and facilitate Scrum ceremonies, including backlog grooming, daily scrum, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives

  • Maintain team metrics, including sprint backlog, burn-down charts (capacity, load, velocity) and release planning

  • Maintain professionalism while problem solving and resolving technical or operational issues

  • Develop expert knowledge of Red Hat’s technologies

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience

  • 15+ years as a program or project manager working on IT-based projects

  • Knowledge of specific industry project management and technical delivery methodologies from PMI, systems or software​ ​development,​ product​ ​development,​ ​Agile; PMI and Agile certifications (SAFe, PMP, etc.)

  • Excellent customer­-facing and people management skills

  • Ability to inspire, inspect, and adapt culture using iterative approaches

  • Demonstrated ability to motivate project teams and individual contributors and mediate conflicts

  • Experience using various project management and Agile tools

  • Great written and verbal communication skills

  • Solid organizational skills, including attention to detail and multitasking skills

  • Working knowledge of project management tools and methodologies

  • Experience in the software development and travel industries

  • Master’s degree is a plus
