Job summary

The Red Hat OpenShift Build System team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will work with some of the brightest engineers in the open source community to create innovative solutions for building enterprise-quality container images at scale. You’ll need to have an interest in Linux software development in Python and experience with the Fedora project or another Linux distribution.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Design and develop solutions for the OpenShift Build System project used to build Red Hat’s container images

  • Collaborate with internal and external developers to provide high quality code and well-integrated solutions

  • Educate the team on new features by sprint reviews or small team presentations

  • Publicize the work the team is doing via blogs, web postings, or conference talks

  • Work in a fast-paced, agile environment

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience

  • Understanding of what makes up a typical Linux system

  • 5+ years of experience in Linux development with languages like Python or C or C++ Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision as part of a dynamic team while demonstrating flexibility and initiative

  • Debugging experience for application problems

  • Experience with Git source control systems

The following are considered a plus:

  • Experience with Red Hat Ansible Automation

  • Familiarity with continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) concepts

  • Experience with agile development
