Job summary

The Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform team is looking for a Technical Product Marketing Manager to lead our competitive marketing initiatives. In this role, you’ll be gathering intelligence about existing and emerging container and Kubernetes-based product offerings, conduct detailed technical analyses, enable the field on how to best differentiate our solutions, and inform industry influencers on use cases and our customer momentum. You’ll partner closely with product management, technical marketing, developer evangelists and our solution architects worldwide. As a Technical Product Marketing Manager, you will serve as a subject matter expert in a fast-paced environment. This role can be based anywhere in the U.S. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Develop and carry out competitive framework and go-to-market plan for Red Hat OpenShift

  • Gather competitive intelligence on current and emerging competitors, and develop competitive responses

  • Build and carry out a scalable field enablement plan to help our sellers position our portfolio and our solution architects to succeed in competitive situations

  • Develop messaging, competitive briefs, guides, and battle cards

  • Conduct thorough technical evaluations and product teardowns

  • Track competitive trends in the field and publish win-loss reports

  • Guide outbound marketing activities and thought leadership through blogging and social media, whitepapers, presentations, case studies, and videos that can be used globally

  • Align with your peers to develop best practices and a consistent approach to competitive marketing across the company

  • Represent Red Hat at customer and industry events

Required skills

  • 8+ years of software industry experience, preferably in the application development, infrastructure software, or virtualization

  • Good knowledge of and practical experience with container and Kubernetes products and cloud services is a plus

  • 4+ years of experience in a related role in technical marketing, product management, sales engineering, or solutions architecture

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science; advanced degree is a plus

  • Domain knowledge and experience with open source projects

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication and presentation skills

  • Comfortable working with and presenting to all levels of an organization

  • Experience working effectively in aninfluence-driven, cross-functional environment

  • Ability to be meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks and projects at once while working in a highly complex environment

  • Experience with social media and digital marketing

  • Willingness to travel 10-25%
