The Red Hat Customer Content Services team is looking for a Technical Writer to join our Middleware Product Documentation team to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will maintain your own source control repositories using Git and manage your own testing, building, and deployment software. You'll work closely with Engineering, Support, and Quality Engineering (QE) teams to develop working code examples. You'll contribute to both upstream documentation and software projects, guiding the direction and content of middleware documentation. You'll participate in customer feedback programs to ensure customer relevancy of our content, while devoting time to research and understanding of the offering as well as related trends and topics in microservices. As a Technical Writer at Red Hat, you will promote customer loyalty and success through content development and delivery. You'll create and be responsible for the customer-focused documentation that accompanies Red Hat's offerings, which will be made available online through Red Hat's Customer Portal. You'll work closely with developers, engineers, and other subject matter experts to create content that helps our customers successfully use our offerings and solutions.
Primary job responsibilities
Work closely with content strategists, engineering project teams, support teams, and other stakeholders to create and maintain high-quality documentation for upcoming releases of Red Hat's offerings
Effectively manage documentation projects and deliver customer-focused documentation
Engage and collaborate with customer feedback programs to address content gaps, respond to direct customer feedback, and promote continuous improvement of the documentation experience
Keep up to date on changes of our offerings, customer use cases, and support issues
Master the use of our internal documentation toolchain, including the publishing platform and issue-tracking tools
Familiarity with Red Hat's and related industry offerings
Experience with software development
Familiarity with version control systems; experience and comfort with Git is a big plus
Ability to collaborate in a global team environment, engage subject matter experts, and follow through on commitments
Working knowledge and experience operating in a Linux environment using the command line
Experience with Agile and comfort with rapid iteration and fast delivery
Ability to read, write, and compile technical documents, including feature descriptions, customer use cases, and release notes using industry best practices
Experience in writing clear and concise procedural documentation for a technical audience
The following is considered a plus:
Experience with information architecture or 3-5 years of enterprise-level technical writing experience
Experience with modular or topic-based documentation
Experience with documenting how products interact or how multiple products can be used together to solve customer's business problems
