Red Hat Senior Software Maintenance Engineer in Remote, Brazil

About the job

Red Hat is adding a Senior Software Maintenance Engineer with a solid background in Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) technologies to our Enhanced Support team in Brazil. In this role, you will provide high-level technical support and sustaining engineering services to dedicated enterprise customer accounts to help them maximize uptime and reduce IT costs. You’ll work closely with customers, developers, and architects while also collaborating with Red Hat Enterprise Linux engineers to solve complex and challenging technical issues. You'll partner closely with development engineering teams and work alongside some of the brightest developers in the open source community. As a Senior Software Maintenance Engineer, you will also partner with Red Hat’s key strategic partners to jointly solve multi-vendor customer issues.

What you will do

  • Work with Red Hat partners, customers, and cloud providers to create joint solutions based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)

  • Provide technical support to Red Hat enterprise customers customers by responding to incoming calls, chat, and web-based inquiries

  • Partner closely with colleagues from Red Hat Sales to assist their understanding of the company's joint offerings with cloud providers

  • Regularly communicate and collaborate with a globally-distributed team of engineers

  • Contribute internally to the Red Hat knowledge management system, share best practices with team members, and commit to internal projects and initiatives

  • Document diagnostic steps and create reusable solutions for future incidents

  • Contribute to regional and global initiatives and projects

  • Troubleshoot and solve complex technical issues and drive issue escalation with Red Hat, cloud providers, partners, and customer teams

  • Be available to perform weekend shift duties on a rotational schedule when needed

What you will bring

  • 3+ years of experience with Linux operating system installation, configuration, upgrade, and maintenance and a good understanding of Linux command line tools

  • Practical experience with cloud providers like Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Product

  • Software development background, including experience writing patches and with scripting languages like Bash, Perl, or Python

  • Troubleshooting and debugging skills; passion for problem-solving and investigation

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision with a globally-distributed team of engineers

  • Experience installing SAP products, including SAP HANA, SAP NetWeaver, S/4HANA, etc is a plus.

  • Ability to build documentation and customer environment assessment.

  • Ability to learn new technologies and follow industry trends

  • Fluent English language skills are preferred
