RedHat Software Engineer - Network Hardware Enablement in Remote, Czech Republic
The Red Hat network interface controller (NIC) and Remote direct memory access (RDMA) Hardware Enablement team is looking for a Software Engineer to join us. In this role you would join a team of network driver maintainers for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). To succeed in this role, you’ll need to be interested in NIC device drivers: Ethernet NICs, Wi-Fi, or InfiniBand.

Primary job responsibilities
Update network drivers in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) minor releases
Track upstream changes
Debug issues reported by customers and Quality Engineering (QE) teams
Fix bugs and submit patches to upstream
Backport fixes, features, new hardware enablement to Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
Test on lab systems and cooperate on testing with hardware partners
Work with QE teams to develop tests
Participate in peer patch reviews
2+ years of professional experience programming in C or a proven track record of contributing to open source projects in C
Using git e.g. branching, merging, cherry-picking, formatting patches, rebasing
Writing scripts in Bash or Python
Configuring networking in Linux e.g. bring up network interfaces, IP addresses, routing, etc.
Knowledge of the most common TCP/IP protocols like Ethernet, IP, TCP, UDP, VLAN
Good written and spoken communication skills in English
The following are a plus:
Experience with writing Linux device drivers
Contributing patches to the upstream Linux kernel
Familiarity with modern network hardware offloads
Knowledge of Wi-Fi technologies
Knowledge of RDMA, InfiniBand hardware
