Job summary

The Red Hat Customer Experience and Engagement (CEE) team is looking for a Red Hat Fuse or Red Hat AMQ middleware support engineer to join our worldwide support team as a Software Maintenance Engineer in Italy. In this role, you will work as part of the Support Engineering team that is responsible for supporting our large enterprise customer base with expert advice on developing, managing, and scaling mission-critical applications that are built with Apache Camel, Apache ActiveMQ and ActiveMQ Artemis, Apache Kafka, Apache CXF, Apache Karaf, fabric8, and Spring Boot. You'll be required to collaborate with many of the committers on the above-mentioned Apache projects. Our customers are savvy open source professional developers that expect well-researched, accurate, and prompt responses to the developer-level technical issues. As a Software Maintenance Engineer, you will get to work with a broad range of technologies in a team of excellent engineers. You'll be contributing to a vibrant community while ensuring the success of our customers. For this position, knowledge of cloud technologies, in particular Red Hat Openshift and Kubernetes, is appreciated.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Use your experience with at least one of the technologies of Red Hat's offerings to your advantage

  • Efficiently develop test cases, patches, and examples for our offerings that resolve customer issues

  • Share your knowledge with our customers by using your developer-level experience with analyzing and debugging Java or C++ application issues at the language-levels like code development, code review, and stack traces

  • Analyze and reproduce problems and troubleshootings

  • Learn about new technologies and customer environments quickly

Required skills

  • Proven expert knowledge of some of the listed Apache technologies

  • Experience working on the large-scale JEE projects

  • Passionate about broadening your skill set in the open source JEE

  • Willingness to learn new things; passion for sharing knowledge with others

  • Ability to apply skills and knowledge to track down solutions to customer problems

  • Customer-focused and detail-oriented

  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple tasks at once
