Job summary

Promote the adoption of Red Hat's solutions with our key enterprise accounts, government agencies, and service provider partners. The Red Hat Consulting team is looking for an Associate Consultant focused on Red Hat Virtualization to join us in Houston, TX. In this role, you will earn the trust and confidence of customer engineering, development, and operations teams through a series of in-person and remote interactions by aligning their requirements and use cases to the functional capabilities of our solutions. You'll play a crucial role in bringing together cross-functional teams from Red Hat's Product, Product Engineering, Support, Professional Services, and Sales teams to meet the needs of our most demanding customers. As an Associate Consultant, you will serve as a customer advocate with these organizations, delivering the right solutions and ensuring that these solutions are implemented and supported in an innovative and reliable way. This position is located in Houston, TX but may require minimal travel to customer sites throughout the United States.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the management of customer Red Hat Virtualization (RHV) environments

  • Manage multiple clusters in multiple datacenters and geographic regions

  • Deploy and manage RHV hosts and virtual machines (VMs)

  • Manage resources; troubleshoot RHV environments

  • Network; monitor VMs and hosts health

  • Manage customer requests in internal work order system

  • Communicate with Containers-as-a-Service (CaaS) team based in other countries or states

Required skills

  • Background in Linux operating systems, including Security-Enhanced Linux (SELinux), Journald, or Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)

  • Basic troubleshooting skills

  • Basic infrastructure concepts skills including hypervisors, networking, storage, or cloud

  • 1+ years of experience deploying and managing Red Hat Virtualization (RHV) clusters

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Ability to write clear and concise documentation

  • Experience working in an enterprise information technology (IT) environment

  • Experience with Red Hat OpenShift, Red Hat Ansible Automation, Red Hat Satellite, EFK stack, and monitoring tools is a plus
