Job summary

The Red Hat Marketing team is looking for a Director of Marketing Communications and Brand in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region to join us in Singapore. In this role, you will deliver and implement a globally aligned strategy to bring the Red Hat brand to life through amplification of content, programs, and stories that help humanize the brand, raise awareness of our portfolio, and develop a robust communications and events strategy to support. In addition, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of a regional plan with key stakeholders to engage enterprise customers, industry analysts, media, and partners. Key stakeholders include regional sales executives and general managers, regional marketing executives, and team. This is a senior leadership position within the APAC Marketing team and requires collaboration with executives and sales management as well as the ability to operate in a regional, field and globally matrixed environment.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of passionate, collaborative, and energetic associates through an open management approach, using the Red Hat values of freedom, accountability, responsibility, and collaboration to guide you in the process

  • Develop, implement, and manage the strategy, plan, and budget to amplify the Red Hat brand, corporate communications, and events programs and initiatives in the region and lead the reporting activity

  • Showcase Red Hat’s culture through our branding and awareness initiatives and also the success of our customers and partners through building stories on humanizing the brand

  • Be responsible for the development of the brand and awareness strategy as well as for the communications plan, ensure that these initiatives are aligned to our strategic objectives and goals and that they deliver our messages to the key stakeholders

  • Be responsible for the development and implementation of an annual, strategic, and special events calendar

  • Ensure that all planned events capture the attention of the intended audience and media and that they are managed in a creative, timely, and cost-efficient manner

  • Ensure that brand, communications, and events strategies and plans within the region are aligned with the global objectives

  • Be the key point of contact and effectively manage relationships with PR agencies, media contacts, industry analysts, and other third-party contacts

  • Serve as a coach and mentor to communications and events marketing associates in the APAC regions and countries to ensure that best practices are shared and used

  • Proactively engage associates on individual and career development plans and support them

  • Oversee the customer success story program

  • Manage budgets; ensure timely success and delivery of activities and effective reporting

Required skills

  • 17+ years of experience with business-to-business (B2B) information technology (IT) brand, corporate communications, and events, preferably within a global software company with U.S. headquarters

  • Demonstrated experience in B2B IT communications and events management and the ability to carry out successful campaigns to increase awareness amongst key stakeholders

  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing comprehensive communications that simultaneously address the needs of a broad stakeholder audience within the B2B IT industry

  • Understanding and knowledge of infrastructure, cloud, and application development software markets in APAC

  • Demonstrated experience working with C-level customers, executive management, and cross-functional teams

  • Positive attitude, ability to work with minimal supervision, and solid organizational, presentation, and communication skills

  • Demonstrated success in people management and leadership

  • Willingness to travel up to 50% internationally
