Job summary

The Red Hat Services team is looking for a Storage Practice Manager to join our Solutions and Technology Practice team. In this role, you will stimulate growth within the team through thought leadership, repeatable solutions, and enablement. Building out the storage practice, you will be responsible for leading a team of architects and consultants in the development, delivery, and enablement of enterprise-level, repeatable solutions associated with key Red Hat's technology sets. As a Storage Practice Manager, you will serve as a lead in building out Red Hat Consulting team’s storage strategy and practices while cooperating directly with our Red Hat Storage portfolio, engineering, and sales teams. This is a remote position which should ideally be based near one of our U.S. Red Hat offices or near a major U.S. airport to enable travel across the U.S. and Canada. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Manage and lead an outstanding consulting team of software-defined storage architects and consultants that is supportive of its members, collaborates on solutions, and is receptive to new ideas to facilitate the best use of our offerings and open source technologies

  • Manage and own the container portfolio solutions from creation to the enablement of sales, consultants, and partners

  • Lead the development of enterprise-level, repeatable container platform and container orchestration solutions with Red Hat’s technologies

  • Create frameworks and processes for customer and consulting teams to deliver repeatable and consistent solutions

  • Communicate on a consistent basis with your team, manager, business unit, sales teams, and key stakeholders that focus on the emerging technology

  • Coordinate with the regional resource managers to provide architects and consultants to support project delivery and provide enablement on the technologies and solutions

  • Partner and engage with key customer and Red Hat stakeholders to build out a referral base for the solutions and to evangelize the solutions

  • Establish yourself as a trusted adviser, both technically and professionally, at Red Hat and with customers

Required skills

  • Competence to quickly embrace and understand new technologies; ability to assimilate new information and understand complex topics

  • Experience with and demonstrated expertise in management of a professional services team, including customer-facing skills with highly technical associates

  • Background in architecting and designing complex customer solutions in a rapidly evolving technology domain

  • Broad and deep technical experience with software-defined storage platform and related technologies, including Red Hat Ceph

  • Storage, Red Hat Gluster Storage, other competitive storage platforms, and Red Hat Openshift Container Storage

  • Experience developing and delivering storage solutions in cloud environments, including Red Hat OpenStack Platform, Red Hat Virtualization, and Red Hat Openshift

  • Solid knowledge of and operational experience with new services methodology related to agile and DevOps

  • 8+ years of experience working in a solutions architect, enterprise architect, or architect consulting delivery role

  • Background and experience working in a consulting services organization or within the services division of a major software company

  • Proven record of working in a strategic advisory capacity to senior developers, IT, and business executives

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including extensive experience presenting to C-level executives at large firms

  • Solutions sales mentality in an environment with multiple offerings and services

  • Proven ability to work seamlessly with distributed cross-functional teams to achieve success on behalf of customers

  • Balance of strategic and tactical skills with a high level of mental agility, problem-solving skills, and capacity for original thought

  • Comfortable working with highly distributed teams, including interaction with open source communities via email and collaboration tools

  • Ability to study on your own and quickly learn and put new topics into practice

  • Passion for open source, software, tooling, and automation

  • Willingness to travel weekly to Red Hat and customer locations throughout the United States and Canada
