Make a difference in the way multi-product test automation is built. The Red Hat Quality Engineering (QE) team is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to join us in Westford, MA. In this role, you will gain deep understanding of a complete portfolio of our solutions and related technologies, including virtualization, cloud, and storage technologies. You’ll make sure that our solutions fulfill the highest possible enterprise quality, performance, usability, and supportability criteria compared to competing offerings. As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will build an understanding of our offerings, how they integrate with other offerings, and the ways in which they are used by our customers. You'll be required to interpret interoperability requirements, formulate test cases, create and implement test plans, research new features, and develop automated tests. You’ll need to have the ability to think creatively, adapt to rapid change, and the willingness to learn new things.
Primary job responsibilities
Work with the complete Red Hat’s solutions portfolio and be actively involved in and responsible for the definition and implementation of multi-product interoperability test scenarios
Create and review test plans and participate in multi-product test planning processes
Develop new automated tests; develop frameworks to ease test development and automation to speed up implementation
Work with Red Hat’s product QE teams to identify and integrate existing tests into multi-product interoperability scenarios
Serve as an internal advocate for our customers
Take responsibility for a multi-product interoperability scenario and guide its successful testing in a timely manner
Participate in and perform a root cause analysis of issues to get a starting point from which to address problems
Analyze and prioritize quality risks and identify tests required to mitigate them
Mentor junior team members
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related engineering field, or relevant professional experience
Solid written and verbal communication skills in English
Ability to design and code complex test cases and code, or contribute code to frameworks that simplify test development and automation solutions
Ability to assist in and perform a root cause analysis of issues, possibly spanning multiple components and subsystems, and develop reproducers
Ability to take responsibility for writing complex test plans for a product interoperability scenario and provide usable time estimations on completion; ability to identify potential risks connected to test development of an assigned feature and mitigate them
Solid user skills and background in Linux environments
Deep knowledge of programming languages like Java, Python, and Red Hat Ansible Automation
Ability to build solid relations in the team and encourage other team members to do the same; ability to lead by example
Knowledge of continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) technologies is a plus
