The Red Hat Quality Engineering (QE) team is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to join us in Westford, MA. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to make a difference in the way multi-product test automation is built. You will gain a deep understanding of a complete portfolio of our solutions and the related technologies, including virtualization, cloud, and storage technologies. You will make sure our solutions fulfill the highest possible enterprise quality, performance, usability, and supportability criteria compared to competing offerings. As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will serve as a customer advocate. You’ll need to have an adept understanding of our product offerings and how they integrate with other products, as well as knowledge of the ways in which these offerings are used by our customers. You'll serve as a mentor to other team members and advise them on interpreting interoperability requirements, formulating test cases, creating and implementing test plans, researching new features, and developing automated tests. You’ll need to have the ability to think creatively and adapt to rapid change, along with a willingness to learn new things.
Primary job responsibilities
Work with the full suite of Red Hat offerings and be actively involved in and responsible for the definition and architecture of multi-product interoperability use cases
Prototype test environments containing prescribed combinations of Red Hat offerings
Create and review test plans and suggest improvements for multi-product testing processes
Develop new automated tests, design and develop new test frameworks and automation, analyze current solutions, and suggest improvements
Participate in code reviews and provide input on the code design
Work with Red Hat’s product QE teams to identify and integrate existing tests into multi-product interoperability test scenarios
Participate in or perform root cause analysis of issues to get a starting point to address problems
Take responsibility for a multi-product interoperability scenario and supervise its successful testing in a timely manner
Contribute bug fixes upstream and provide demos of the solutions and technologies
Help team lead delegate and support the team working on multi-product interoperability testing; serve as a temporary team lead in times of need
Mentor junior team members
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related engineering field, or 5+ years of relevant professional experience
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English
Ability to design and code, or contribute code to complex test cases and code frameworks which simplify test development and automation solutions
Ability to assist in or perform root cause analysis of issues possibly spanning multiple components or subsystems and develop reproducers
Ability to take responsibility for writing complex test plans for a feature and provide usable time estimations on completion; ability to identify potential risks connected to test development of assigned feature and mitigate them
Solid skills and background in Linux
Deep knowledge in programming languages, including Python or Ansible
Ability to build solid relationships on the team and encourage other team members to do the same; ability to lead by example
The following are considered a plus:
Well-versed in industry trends in virtualization, cloud, or storage technologies
Practical experience with Red Hat OpenStack Platform and Docker
Knowledge of continuous integration (CI) and continuous development (CD) technologies
