Job summary

The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us in Westford, MA. In this role, you will oversee the direction, design, and implementation of our innovative technology. You’ll participate in the solutions release cycle and in the formal requirements and engineering response processes to coordinate open source requirements and expectations. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will also contribute to open source projects while delivering enterprise-ready offerings based on these projects that are suitable for use by our customers. Work as part of the Red Hat Virtualization Hypervisor (RHVH) oVirt team. Develop new features for Red Hat’s virtualization and cloud management technologies and contribute to open source projects in the oVirt development community.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Create and lead new feature development for Red Hat Virtualization Hypervisor (RHVH) and contribute to open source projects in Python.

  • Submit patches for bug fixes to the open source community and review patches from other members.

  • Work with other team members to maintain and monitor the Continuous Integration (CI) infrastructure.

  • Work with the quality engineering team to ensure that projects are tested correctly.

  • Publicize the team's work through blogs, web postings, and conference talks.

Required skills

  • Five (5) years of experience in the job offered or a related role.

  • Must have five (5) years of experience with: Red Hat Virtualization; Virtualization environments; Open source development; making significant contribution in at least one project, including experience changing and updating the project architecture while introducing new technologies; Linux internals, including troubleshooting, bug fix updates, and core builds; Performance tuning experience; Java and SQL; Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL); System deployment and management; and Fedora Linux and RPM Packaging.

  • Must have 3 years of experience with: Linux systems programming/administration; and Collaborating/communicating status effectively across a global team.

  • Must have obtained Red Hat Certified Engineer designation.
